San Francisco Decorator Showcase
“Nature Always Wins”
is a study of the dichotomy between the strength and the fragility of our natural world.
Based on the recognition that nature always finds its balance, whether in cooperation with, or in spite of, humankind. A delicate, three-dimensional wall covering at the entry wall features hand-formed and hand-painted butterflies, representing the delicate nature of our environment. In contrast, the same wall is anchored by a console table of hand-carved Shou Sugi Ban cedar and stone, representing nature’s unshakable strength and determination in the face of all that our environment is contending with, from wildfires to rising seas.
Each of the room’s pieces were designed or crafted in California as an exploration of the wealth of resources that exist right in our own backyard. All makers and manufacturers are within a 500-mile radius on the Showcase house, thus lowering the environmental footprint and the overall embodied energy of the design, all while supporting the local economy and the extraordinary artists and fabricators who help to fuel it.

Design Philosophy
Since its inception, Leap Interior Design has consistently been driven by a mission to curate and elevate each client’s individual aesthetic. Co-founder Chelsea Brown aims to create interiors that are inviting, sophisticated and uniquely personal. Whether a client prefers casual elegance, understated minimalism or an eclectic mix, Chelsea draws upon a unique set of resources to achieve each client's vision in a way that is enduring and can be evolved and layered upon for years to come. She believes that design is not static; rather, it is an organic process that should evolve with each client over a lifetime. With a background in sustainable architecture and design, she seeks to apply these principles to all facets of design and encourages clients to select heirloom pieces from local artisans and craftsmen whenever possible. She is a strong believer that sustainable design does more than elevate the home, it elevates the community it exists within.
